The world is big, and I want to have a good look at it before it gets dark.- John Muir
Hello! Thanks for joining me! I’m Rebekah, just your average person in a mundane world on a mission to make life worth writing about. I have a husband, a day job, personal struggles like everyone else, and a creative river running through it all that continually carves my identity.
After experiencing an emotional crisis that spanned my late twenties to early thirties, my seemingly out-of-control life took an unexpected turn. In 2009, I met my future husband who was singing country music in a Nashville honky tonk. We were married in 2010. When we were finally able to afford a honeymoon in 2013, I fell in love again- this time with America’s National Parks and the allure of the outdoors. My new passion surprised me more than anyone. I thought it would surely be fleeting as so many other intense interests had been throughout my life. But it wasn’t. In fact, the question I’d asked for so many years, “Who am I?”, had finally begun to be answered. (You can read the story of how this all happened in my post “Just a Walk in the Park“.)
Over the years, my love for the National Parks spread to encompass state/local parks, monuments, historic sites, and all sorts of places in between- some random, some epic, all worth writing about. My blog is my story of where I’ve been, what I’ve learned, and how my travels are constantly shaping me and deepening my love for life. I hope my story encourages you to get out and see all you can while you can. Life is short. Make it an adventure!
To give you authentic accounts of my travels along with inspiration and tips to help you get the most out of yours. I’ve also included a page dedicated to my poetry. My poems are a reflection of how particular places have affected me and are perhaps my most treasured souvenirs.
I hope you enjoy my blog! I’d love to hear from you.
Good thing I left a trail for you!
