My Home’s In Tennessee

Where the grass is green
And dogwoods bloom every spring
Where the moon shines on old mountains
Smoky and steep.
Can't have beans without the cornbread
Tea without the sweet.
If home is where the heart is,
My home's in Tennessee.

Where the west and east
On the middle porch can meet
And swing in perfect time with
The song the crickets sing.
Watching stars fall to the sidewalk
From skies of neon dreams
If home is where the heart is,
My home's in Tennessee.

Where folks still believe
What you sow is what you reap.
In the land of grace and cotton
Roots in southern soul run deep.
We still find hope and freedom in
The gospel of the Kings.
If home is where the heart is,
My home's in Tennessee.

Some live and die for orange and white
But we're all one team.
We're the great state of the Tennessee Volunteers!
If home is where the heart is,
My home's in Tennessee.

If home is where the heart is,
My home's in Tennessee.

*I wrote this as an anthem of sorts for my home sweet home.
